What to do immediately (first 30 minutes)
These steps help the family move quickly and calmly while ensuring the Masjid can coordinate Janazah and burial without delays.
- Hospital or authorities confirm the death and next steps.
- Choose a funeral home (or contact your existing provider).
- Ask what documents are required for burial scheduling in your county.
- Text a photo/screenshot of the death certificate as soon as available.
- Share: deceased name, family contact name/number, and preferred timing.
- Coordinator will advise whether the body comes to the Masjid or goes directly to the cemetery.

What documents are needed
To avoid delays, please prepare these items as early as possible. Requirements can vary depending on the situation and funeral home guidance.
- Death certificate — send a photo/screenshot to the Masjid coordinator.
- Deceased person’s full name (English) + DOB + DOD
- Family point-of-contact name + phone number
- Government ID for the family point of contact
- Hospital or medical examiner documentation (as applicable)
- County permits and filing requirements (handled by funeral home)
